We've got some shows to discuss
Ok so I really enjoyed doing the White Lotus recaps and you guys enjoyed them too (except for the three people who unsubscribed this month! Why u mad?).
We really need to get down to business because I have a lot to say.
Your Friends and Neighbors (Apple TV+)- John Hamm plays an unlikeable, out of touch rich guy who starts stealing from his friends to maintain his unnecessarily lavish lifestyle. While that sounds like a biting review, I am excited to see where it goes. Stealing a Rolex here and a wad of cash there is going to add up to some Walter White business before we know it. I’m only one episode in…3.5/5 so far.
The Stolen Girl (Freeform/ Hulu) - You know I love Freeform (hello Cruel Summer, The Bold Type, I mean come on.) and their new British mystery, The Stolen Girl, really captured me. It’s based on the novel Playdate by Alex Dahl which rudely isn’t available on Audible in the US!! Only one episode is out and I’m hooked. A girl goes missing after a playdate and all is not as it seems. Robin from CB Strike plays a con artist (or so we think), it’s gonna be good. (5/5 so far)
North of North (Netflix)- Siaja is a young Inuk mother in the tiny Arctic town, Ice Cove. Her husband SUCKS and she needs to spread her wings and fly but she doesn’t know where to go. We follow her journey of self discovery and the hilarity that ensues. It’s a very sweet show and I feel like I know and live in and know the community. I’m not laughing my ass off but I’m enjoying the ride! 4/5
Gorgeous finales:
The Pitt (Max)- Wins my show of the year award. Remind me of this in December. I know the characters so deeply and am even open to getting to know the night shift as I’m already invested in their relationships. Who woulda thought Santos would be the MVP in the end. Her scene with Whitaker inviting him to live with her welcomes in a whole new Grey’s Anatomy-esque world for next season. 5/5
Matlock (Paramount+)- The two-part finale was superb. I really didn’t know where it was going and how we would even have a second season. They set it up perfectly for season 2. Will Maddie and Olympia repair their friendship? Will Maddie’s marriage survive?? Now we wait patiently for it to return. 5/5
The Valley (Bravo)- There’s darkness lurking in the San Fernando Valley. It smells like stale grape-flavored vape smoke and mango celsius spilled on the carpeted floor of a Prius and it looks like Kristen Doute’s three-days unwashed hair and stretched out v-neck from American Apparel times of yore. This season we’re dealing with what Jax should consider his addiction rock bottom and the fallout of multiple divorces. We’re also dealing with super fan turned cast member Janet, lego hair extraordinaire Zach, pointy eyebrow Brittany, sleepy Michelle, unfortunately kinda charming Jesse, and queen hangover herself, Kristen Doute. Can’t wait to see what unfolds. 5/5
Temptation Island (Netflix)- Mark L. Walberg and his new veneers are incredible hosts. He puts all other dating show hosts to shame. His advice and empathy are unmatched. The couples are messy as expected. Like Casa Amor on Love Island, the guys get into much more trouble than the girls and the girls take the emotional brunt of things. Ugh. Very good season overall. 4/5
A Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Read (Max)- I’ve heard her name but never quite grasped the details of this case. I’m only an episode in but there’s some sketchy stuff going on in this Boston police community… more next time. 4/5
Oh also, I obviously continue to watch Summer House and continue to be so triggered by Jesse Solomon, 32-year-old f-boy and his stupid antics.
And did you see there’s going to be a Love Island US Beyond The Villa on Peacock?? Interesting.
Ok love ya bye! Press the like button!
