Hello from Newsletter #4 !
This month women made history! And I did many groundbreaking activities myself, including but not limited to:
Going to outdoor Pure Barre where my instructor approached me and said “Barre is humbling, isn’t it?”
Pacing my apartment and checking Twitter and Apple news for election results every four minutes and then becoming addicted to those apps and ultimately missing the thrill when the news died down.
Taking a coconut oil bath because Lauren Conrad said it was good but accidentally using cooking oil and having oily hair for 15 days following.
Ironically, I once used coconut conditioner as cooking oil.
Rewatching all of Veronica Mars for the 8th time and realizing that the last four episodes of Season 3 aren’t good (??).
Mourning Veronica Mars and deciding to finally embark on a Buffy the Vampire Slayer journey to fill the void.
Buying an air fryer and having to explain to my peers that it is very different than an oven!
Hard boiling (and burning) eggs in the air fryer. Bad smell alert.
Making a new friend on Bumble BFF- this is not an ad! But I have a new friend!
Re-downloading Candy Crush and caving to my addiction.
Deleting Candy Crush because I started buying booster coins with real American dollars.
TV - Buckle up, there’s a lot to go over. These aren’t in any particular order except Buffy and Veronica Mars are the best and Big Sky is terrible.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (seasons 1-7) (I am not proud of this but here we are!)- Everything leads back to Buffy it turns out! Every TV show, movie, pop culture moment. Whew. And, Twilight is Buffy with more angst and no fun. Spike and Buffy are better than Seth and Summer and even Veronica and Logan…..
Veronica Mars (seasons 1-3)- Veronica Mars is still my favorite show of all time, minus the last four episodes of season 3.
The Undoing (season 1)- Nicole Kidman floats along in long coats and makes very expressive eye movements.
The Boys (seasons 1-2)- I’m not really a superhero gal but I enjoyed Annie and Hughie’s relationship.
The Crown (season 4)- Sweeping, sprawling, melodrama and I loved every min (except for the boring ones).
A Teacher (season1)- This show is uncomfortable and TMI but TOP DRAWER soundtrack (if you love pop and hip hop from 2014).
Psych (seasons 3-5)- doesn’t really hold up in a post- #metoo world but still fun.
Law and Order SVU (season 21, Episode 19)- this is the Epstein-inspired episode. A must watch!
The Bachelorette- The men continue to “get real” with Tayshia.
Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (season 1)- rocky mountain chic, just like me.
Big Sky (season 1)- young characters say things like “fixing to” and the police chief says “we don’t get many beautiful people here in Montana.” Come on.
Movies- no particular order except the last three were not good.
Kajiillionaire- made me feel uncomfortable yet delighted.
Holidate - 10/10 rom-com that takes place mostly at a mall.
Can’t Hardly Wait - Seth Green bathroom scene!!
Borat 2 - very Boratty and gross and enjoyable.
Empire Records - Wacky delightful.
The Lie- VERY SERIOUS but includes my fave, Peter Sarsgaard.
Rebecca-melodrama at its WORST.
Operation Christmas Drop-“No offense but you don’t know the first thing about me”- Andrew Claws (not to be confused with Santa).
Ok, bye! Happy h-lidays. Email me if you’d like to discuss Buffy!
