Hi it’s me!
Back so soon you ask? Yes!
I’m doing much better than last edition. The text breakup abomination pops into my head less and less every day. I’ve been determined to get over it by walking outside every time I’m sad and listening to… Keith Urban of all people lol. If loving him is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
I’ve also really enjoyed saying "I just got out of a relationship" because it sounds really sophisticated and divorcee. I’m considering adopting a mid-atlantic accent when I make such an announcement.
I’ve been glowing up by learning how to pose in photos. I realized I often look like a fridge in photos (I know I don’t look like a fridge in real life, just photos!), so I needed to learn how to add some dimension. I read an article that told me to make triangles with my body while posing. I’m still figuring it out but stay tuned. I hope that nobody ever sees my practice photos because they are…. not good.
On top of all that ( how does she do it?), I’ve been really into celebrity blind items. It started with my new fave podcast, Celebrity Memoir Book Club (It’s also Dula Peep’s favorite podcast, so you know it’s good) and they had a guest on who is an expert on Taylor Swift blind items, which led me to the iconic Gaylor Swift subreddit. Her music and passionate songs about forbidden lovers make so much sense through this lens since I always wondered how she was so hung up on Joe Jonas.
TV
Keep in mind that my bar is very high because I rewatched two perfect TV shows this month, Stath Lets Flats and Fleabag
Industry (HBO Max) - They’re back!! The drug-fuelled sexy “fun” of season 1 is less fun in the post-Covid world of Season 2. Harper is pallid and lost some of people skills, cute blonde guy went to rehab and is really mellowed out, the mean red head guy also went to rehab and anger management, sheesh! Yasmin is trying to keep the party going but nobody is joining her. Eric is more sinister than we thought? Or Harper is? Or they both are? Does anyone know anything, or are they all just yelling words? 7/7
The Resort (Peacock) - My other favorite show of the month! A very unexpected/ fun mystery/ comedy at a resort. The plot is COMPLICATED but it’s ok, it’s so wacky that you can’t anticipate anything that’s going to happen. Remember adorable Skylar Gisondo from Righteous Gemstones? He’s the star! 6/7
Never Have I Ever (Netflix)- Mindy knows how to do a rom com. I didn’t think I would be team Devi/ Ben but here I am! Very funny writing too!! 6/7
League of Their Own (Amazon Prime)- I’ve been looking forward to this for months because of all the funny ladies involved (Abby Jacobson, Kate Berlant, D’Arcy Carden) but dare I say I’m slightly disappointed? I haven’t really laughed, eek! Although Abby’s delivery is very funny and not dissimilar to my own (hehe) …I think it’s more that I don’t really watch or read period pieces and am consistently bored or disappointed by them (sowry, as Ramona Singer would say). 4/7 but if I liked period pieces I would give it a 5.5/7!
What We Do In the Shadows (FX/ Hulu) - I missed Nadia, Lazlo, Collin Robinson and the gang. I really guffawed when Nandor got a face lift/ fillers. I like that there’s no major stakes or problems for the gang since they will live forever and if they get caught in a bind they can just fly away (bat!). 6/7
Bear (FX/ Hulu)- I accidentally watched all of this in one evening, so I don’t quite remember what happened but I do know I loved cousin Richie (also known as Marnie’s bf on Girls!). I would give this a 7/7 if I enjoyed yelling and chaos because it was really well done (get it? like steak) but I got too stressed so… 5/7
Rehearsal (HBO Max)- I know that everyone ran not walked to see my review of Rehearsal this month but I’m kinda worried that a certain someone who dumped me via text one month ago ruined snarky male comedies for me. I’m really hoping this is not a permanent thing but I just couldn’t watch past episode 1 :( Nathan is a genius though :( “door city" :(
I started The Old Man and Reservation Dogs season 2 (Hulu is thriving lately) so I will report back when I see more! 5.5/7 and 7/7 respectively so far. I also tried to watch Keep Breathing on Netflix and did not enjoy myself!!
Reality
Southern Charm (Bravo)- Austen was really sad that Olivia invited Madison to her bbq and I must say, I get it! Austen feels like everyone has moved on but he’s still heartbroken over Madison. Maybe we are more alike than I thought…. As I’m typing this I remember that Austen cheated on Madison ugh. Never mind. Also, Chleb is going to be in such hot water over that convo with Naomi. 5/7 because lots of unnecessary filler scenes.
Beverly Hills (Bravo)- this is the point in the season where everything gets super repetitive and Dorit and PK start rehearsing all their conversations. I might put them on ice until the finale/ reunion. 3/7.
Bachelorette (ABC)- Um, this season is very mean and not feminist as they claimed!! Poor Gabby and Rachel are straight up not having a good time. Also, it’s almost hometowns? I can’t…. 2/7
Love Island UK (Hulu) - wow, what a season. I usually get bored after Casa Amor but like to check in periodically. I won’t say too much since I’m not sure if everyone knows the winners but excited to discuss with anyone who will listen. 7/7
I haven’t finished any books this month since I’ve been more of a podcast girl recently, but they are percolating. I HIGHLY recommend reading Jeannette McCurdy’s book.
OK BYE!! TTYL!
