Hello!
LT no T. Jacket season came and went and I was busy participating in a big way. I’ve always been a throw-on-a-sweater girl (most likely a long cardigan duster situation), but this winter I stepped outside the box and started wearing jackets to complement my outfits, and boy did they ever. I experimented with a GREEN Moto jacket (wow), classic denim, and a (faux) LEATHER jacket (who do I think I am?). As you can see from the below photos, despite my serious face, my confidence was through the roof.
Unfortunately, now it is tank top arms season. Goodbye jackets, hello tank top arms. In an effort to tan my arms in preparation, I went on a hike today. It was nice except the man walking in front of me was walking up the hill backward (I think that must have some fitness benefit otherwise why would you do it?). We were facing each other, walking in harmony for what felt like many miles (it was 0.4 miles actually). I looked at the sky, at the flowers, anywhere but directly at him and he was doing the same. I even stopped off to the side to “enjoy the view” but my spindly legs caught up to him before I knew it. I eventually gathered the courage to pass him, but that is intimate in itself as there would be a good minute where we’re walking side by side. I sped up and passed him and we closed mouth smiled to each other. But then I had to maintain my new pace up a very steep hill and I could sense him backward walking encroaching on me (this sentence makes sense, right?). I had to tamp down my huffing and puffing as to not alarm the other hikers, but I made it.
All this to say, I’m sad jacket season is over, I’m begrudgingly preparing for tank top arms season, and I am spending a lot of time STUDYING* for my new JOB working in unscripted TV development!!
*watching hours of reality tv
In honor of my new job, I’m starting this month’s list with unscripted shows.
Are You the One (MTV) - Hosted by the guy who played Mercer on season three of Veronica Mars! Nobody told me! If you like when people pronounce heart “hort,” then you will love this show.
Summer House (Bravo)- My number one show. Stephen made a PowerPoint of his relationship w/ Lindsay that included charts and graphs. Hannah brought up her dad and then screamed “don’t talk about my dad.” An Instagram psychic told Hannah that Luke and Lindsay were hooking up, so it must be true.
For Real: The Story of Reality TV (E!)-In episode one, Andy interviews the Kardashians—an “explosive” interview where Kourt reveals she and Kylie believe they get a bad edit. Episode two covered Survivor (he interviews Zeke!!) and a Real World reunion. The next episode will be about The Bachelor….
Temptation Island (USA) -I like how all the couples call each other “beb."
Demi Lovato- Dancing With the Devil (Youtube) - Devastating.
Real Housewives of New York trailer (Bravo)- It’s the best time of year. Summer House is still on and RHONY is on the horizon.
Scripted
Kenan (NBC)- This show is sneakily funny. A vessel for jokes! There’s a scene of Chris Redd doing a multi-point turn in his car that made me cry laughing.
Genera+ion (HBO Max) - The first scene features a teen girl giving birth in a mall bathroom while another teen girl googles “how to give birth,” all while edgy pop Christmas music plays. It’s written in tweets and memes. I cannot wrap my head around it but I love it but I hate it.
The One (Netflix)- I experienced the emotions of the characters as if they had happened to me. I thought I was being dramatic but my friend Rachael had the same experience!! Highly recommend. Ignore that it only has 44% on Rotten T’s.
Resident Alien (SyFy)- I’m not an alien show kind of gal but this one is really fun!! It takes place in a small town in CO and is funny and full of heart (hort)- warming moments.
Enlightened (HBO)- I forgot that this show is a who’s who of Charlotte’s celebrity crushes. Luke Wilson! Dermot Mulroney! The list goes on! Laura Dern lopes around with a purpose (I say this lovingly as I too am a loper) (Photo above)
Made for Love (HBO)- I am not all-in yet but I will give it a few more episodes!
Movies
Coming to America (Amazon Prime)- Classic fun.
Deadly Illusions (Netflix)- My note to remember this movie was, "there’s a nanny but also an FBI case." Dermot Mulroney stars hehe.
Happily (Apple TV)- couldn’t get through it sorry!!
Fun Mom Dinner (Netflix)- Bridget Everett, Molly Shannon in a LOL funny movie that slightly fizzles at the end but is worth watching.
Friends w/ Benefits (Netflix)- What can I say, Justin T is a charmer in this movie.
Books
The Wife Upstairs - modern-day Jane eyre. Which I didn’t realize until 90 pages in even though the characters are named Jane, Mr. Rochester, and Bertha. Sigh.
You Love Me- the third You book. Soooo over the top but in the best way.
Ok, bye!! TTFN ta ta for now.
