A few more recommendations
Before my signature best of lists
I’m checking in with a few final suggestions before I decide on my top tens for the year. They’re percolating and I’m getting clearer on the finalists. Tell me your fave shows and books of the year, I’m a curious George.
Here is some rapid-fire commentary!
Chair Company finale (HBO Max)- Favorite quote: “He’s not feeling good, he had 10 cigars.” Favorite image: see above. I remain topsy turvy about the plot, though.
Pluribus (Apple TV)- Vulture described this series as “percolating” (a word I also used in the intro hehe) and I couldn’t have said it better myself. Like watching a Mr. Coffee pot brew. Sometimes the drips are loud and sometimes they’re soft. LMAO IDK I’m bad at metaphors. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever watched. Episode 7 is a masterpiece. Manousos’ journey from Paraguay to the Darien Gap is absolutely gorgeous and thrilling. Did you know that Chunga Palms exist?? I’m sad there are only 9 episodes because I just got a feel for the show. Dang it. A
Little Disasters (Amazon Prime)- Diane Krueger rocks a silk dress like nobody else. Drama mockumentary (you don’t see that as often!) about a group of mom friends and a mom who may have hurt her child. Trigger warning if you have a new nephew like I do, it was upsetting. Overall solid with a good twist. B-
Boston Blue (CBS)- Blue Bloods spinoff starring Juliet from Psych! Let me tell you, they check every box and provide every exposition you need. Lots of “hey big brother.” But you know I love these series. B
Dark (Netflix)- German series from 2017 I hadn’t heard of!! It’s Lost meets Stranger Things and I’m enjoying it very much so far, even though I can’t play my iPad game while watching because of the subtitles. A
Vanderpump Rules (Bravo)- People are rioting in the streets over the new VPR cast, but I see their potential. They’re just as dark and rough around the edges as the original cast, just with a 2025 spin to them (insert Only Fans guy who was clearly cast the day of filming). Marcus has a wildness to him that is more likable than Jax. Natalie is Scheana and Lala rolled into one with Katie Maloney’s style. Just these two alone give me hope for the future of the show. More soon.
Traitors trailer- I’m seeing a lot of Candiace Dillard and Caroline Stanbury and I like what I see! Many of my friends are worried about Michael Rapaport but I think he’ll only be in a few episodes being obnoxious… fingers crossed.
Summer House trailer- Ciara, West, Jesse love triangle!! I’m in. And shocker Kyle and Amanda are having issues. I’ll be counting down the days until the premiere.
Ok that’s it! Stay tuned for my end of year lists! Ta ta for now.

Dark is the best! happy holidays, friend!!
Thank you on VPR! We may be in the minority but I agree with you on seeing potential in these kids. They are messy and poor, just the way we need them to be.
